And the continuation of our Hopkins series…
I’ve taught with Joe for the last 5 years. I remember last August, when we started school again.. Joe was noticeably a different guy. He made no secret as to the reason for his fresh new outlook: Shirra. He just knew it with her from the start. When they got engaged, it was no surprise.
Joe and Shirra were a really great fit for Wendi and I. Wendi and I like sarcasm and we like to laugh with our couples. They laughed along with us for the hour; we actually had to stop at points to regain our composure. I look at some of their photos, and I still can’t help but laugh. (one of which photos can be found below

Here is Shirra- showering Joe with some yummy semi-wet leaves.. with a creepy bear (NOT a bunny Shirra) statue in the background.

maybe.. just maybe.. my favorite photo.

and finally.. the image that keeps me laughing…
Joe’s speech bubble, “And behold, Shirra, all this can be yours! Just take my hand in marriage.”
Shirra’s thought bubble, “…….did he just say something?……”

“Angelo, what’s my name?”
“Uncle Christa.” :: insert a-lo laugh ::
“No Angelo. It is Aunti Christa.”
“Uh huh Uncle Christa, you Uncle Christa.” :: insert a-lo laugh ::
I’ll forgive him for trying to be funny. I mean, he is only 2. How can I not when this is how cute he looks as he says it:

I love when a fellow photographer asks me to do photos for them. It’s a good feeling. Especially when they are as talented as Melany. (See some of her work on her site AND two posts ago for Maie-Jean and Patrick’s wedding!!
I am proud to call Melany an extended-family-member of Team Dolce!!
This family is just as cute as a button.

And then we got some “mom and dad” time.

And then this gorgeous pair of sisters!!

Wendi and I were luckily to shoot the beautiful Hopkins Vineyard twice in one day. It was the perrfect day for photos. (ok- a little chilly), but lighting-wise… perfection. Alissa and Bill brought their bubbly personalities and major sweetness in full effect to their session. They rocked every shot we did. Seriously. Below are just 10 of them.
I can confidently say, that we all had a really great time (and yes, I am speaking for Alissa and Bill too! ha) We laughed for the entire hour…which continued right into our next session… (coming soon!)

I have to start with a big thanks to Wendi and Melany, the two fabulous shooters for the wedding. The following preview was taken by both Wendi and Melany.
Maie-Jean and Patrick, enjoy the photos!

The girls wore beautiful henna on their hands.

Maie-Jean’s dress was absolutely stunning.. the beading, the back, the pick-ups.. it was really the perfect dress.

Like all Connecticut Catholic churches we have been to, this one did not disappoint! The grandeur of the space is the perfect setting to take your wedding vows.

These two could be sisters! But Maie-Jean is mom to this beautiful girl.

and then the little guy!

And off to the party at La Notte’s!

Taking a break from all the dancing…
And lastly, some awesome bouquet/garter tossing (I love watching everyone getting ready to dive!):

and the sweet move from Pat!

I have a hard time just typing Jill. My mind and fingers insist on typing Jilly… so that is what we will go with.
So, Jilly and Jeff. Oh how I love them. I loved how they really focused on making us (us= myself & the fabulous “other” crista.. Crista Acosta) feel comfortable and like guests. Even though it was their wedding day, I felt important!
Thanks! And the fact that everything for this wedding was no more than 15 minutes from my house was just a sweet added bonus. Jilly would make us laugh every time, without fail, that she would break from whatever she was doing to flash a fun-filled smile. (see below)
Jilly & Jeff- Enjoy your preview below, courtesy of both c(h)ristas!!!
Jill and Jeff took advantage of the gorgeous afternoon October lighting by doing most of their photos before the ceremony. Su-perb idea.

And off to one of the most amazing chapels I have ever seen.

and of course, a little M.J. Thriller coming at ya…

one of the coolest parts was that at the end of the night when all the guests took up sparklers for Jilly and Jeff to run through them to end the celebration!

Seriously. I’ve spent time all over New England. College in New Hampshire and Mass. Trips to Vermont. And nothing compares to the reds of our Connecticut trees.
yumm. And this baby is right in my front yard.
Here they are, just for you Amy!

Crista Acosta took this of me last weekend. She noted: “You are so pale; you could be a Cullen.”
I wish. lol-

A vineyard is such a great place for an engagement session. Leah and Matt choose the Jonathan Edwards Winery in North Stonington. http://www.jedwardswinery.com/wines/ It was the epitome of a New England vineyard. The land was gorgeous and it was a really sunny and warm October morning. Because we started early, we were able to capture some amazing blue skies.
Matt and Leah, you guys were great to work with.
Can’t wait for your wedding!
Here were some of my favs!

We really loved the nets protecting the grapes. It was a really cool visual.

My fav from the session.. right below!!

Jenn is someone I have known for a very long time. I actually started playing softball with Jen when we were about 10 years old. I think we were both the smallest girls on the team. lol. So when Jenn emailed me earlier this year, I was really excited to be working with this blast from the past. It didn’t hurt that she is so classically beautiful with a really complimenting counterpart.
Being NYC dwellers now, they of course wanted their engagement session to be right in the midst of it. As a Connecticut photographer, I have dreamed of the opportunity to shoot in the great city of New York. The endless possibilities are just soo enticing. And wow. I knew the photos were going to be great.. but really, after processing- I am in love with these.
And the trip wouldn’t have been complete without Team Dolce. It was Wendi, Daniel, and me…. all paparazzi-ing up Jen and Mark. I attribute the success to the fabulous combination of all 5 of us!!
To start, we were in Grand Central Station. Of course we wanted to get “that” shot. I sorta did. It was more of a touristy, weekend, stay still, kind of crowd than the weekday hustle and bustle movement. oh well!

It was so nice just letting the city into the shot… people, cars, everything. It was totally different than what we usually try to do!

Daniel scaled a wall to grab this shot… what an angle on a sweet pose. yumm.

Where else am I going to get a killer subway shot like this??

off to Brooklyn!

I’d hang this one in my own living room. lol
